Technology for Action Research?

I am starting my new class EDLD 5301 and am thinking about problems I need to address in my Action Research Plan.  The first thing that comes to mind as I think about the needs of my students and how it relates to my Technology portion of my plan is that many of my students either don't have a computer at home or don't have internet access.  There is inequity among my students that can cause some of them to be left behind.  This concerns me in our tech savvy world.  In order for all my students to excel they must be knowledgeable in the area of technology.

  1. That's a really great concern for all of us. There's a school in my district that assigned Ipads to all of the students, but when I talked to other teachers, they said that the parents had to pay a $50 deposit. That's not a bad deal. I supposed it depends on how responsible your child is. The problem is that many of the parents chose not to pay the deposit; therefore, the students don't have the technology. Now, I can't blame the parents as our district is Title I and a vast majority of the students are on free and reduced lunches, so it becomes an issue of we have the technology, but it's still not available to the kids. I'm sure this frustrates those teachers. It would me.
